French chefs concoct coronavirus solutions

Takashi Kinoshita, a Japanese chef working in France, has been delivering daily gourmet meals to healthcare workers in Dijon.

In France, “some of the greatest cooks in the world [have been] reduced to setting up food trucks and starting takeaway services to keep their heads above water,” as Agence France Presse has reported, and are asking for aid. French chef Alain Ducasse is offering gourmet meals delivered by bicycle, while simultaneously pressing French President Emmanuel Macron to reopen the country’s restaurants.

Meanwhile, Japanese chefs in France like Takashi Kinoshita are concentrating on helping others. Inspired by him, healthcare workers in the Burgundy region have been treated to Pinot Noir-marinated braised chuck steak and savoury macaroons with black currant mustard.
